City Council Approves Riverfront Redevelopment Plan

City Council Approves Riverfront Redevelopment Plan

After months of public hearings, the council voted to approve a long-debated plan to reopen the riverfront to pedestrians, with new cycle paths, a market square and expanded green space.

Supporters called the decision a turning point for the district. Critics asked for stronger guarantees on affordable housing and construction timelines.

Work is expected to begin next spring, with the first section opening to the public the following summer.
